Dr. Nancy Summers-Meeusen, conductor of the New Horizons bands and string orchestra in Grand Rapids, is principal oboist with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra and is active in West Michigan as a chamber musician, orchestral musician, conductor and teacher of oboe. For the past 25 summers, she has served as principal oboist with the MUNY Opera in St. Louis, Missouri. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois Wesleyan University, Master of Music from Southern Illinois University and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan. She has served as music director of the Grand Rapids Chamber Winds and associate conductor with the Grand Rapids Civic Theater.
