Dr. Nancy Summers
Dr. Nancy Summers began her tenure as Music Director of West Michigan New Horizons Music Ensembles (WMNHME) in 2001. She is currently a board member with the New Horizons International Music Association, to which WMNHME belongs. In addition to her work with New Horizons, Nancy holds the position of Principal Oboe in the St. Louis Municipal Opera Theatre Orchestra. She created and serves as Artistic Director of the annual Winter Solstice Celebration in Grand Rapids and has also conducted at Interlochen Center for the Arts, at New Horizons Music Camps at Chautauqua (NY), Georgia and Maine. She also directs the Fideles Nola Handbell Choir at Grandville (MI) United Methodist Church. Nancy was past Principal Oboe in the West Michigan Symphony. A founding member of The Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis, Nancy serves as principal guest conductor. The Orchestra debuted in the fall of 2012. In July 2014, Nancy also became Music Director of the Rockford (MI) Community Orchestra. Nancy earned her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from The University of Michigan.
