Our Mission:

To provide joyful and challenging opportunities to make music, to share those talents with others, and to promote the lifelong pursuit of musical expression.

Remember how much fun you had playing in a band? You CAN play again—or perhaps play for the first time—in a band that welcomes all levels of musicianship in an inclusive, supportive environment!

Each year, from September through May, West Michigan New Horizons Music Ensembles enriches the lives of adult musicians—some seasoned, some playing for the first time—and enthusiastic audiences at public concerts and community outreach programs at schools, retirement communities…venues where music is most needed and appreciated.

One of our hallmarks is that we rehearse and usually perform during the day. This is an ideal schedule for musicians who are retired, working evening shifts, still in school, or homemakers. We all share a desire to make music, improve our skills and share our talents with others.

Founded in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1999, West Michigan New Horizons Music Ensembles is a member of the New Horizons International Music Association. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that makes music from Labor Day to Memorial Day with a summer hiatus. Rehearsals are held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, located at 3215 4 Mile Rd. Grand Rapids, MI 49525.
